History of Advocating for 100% Federal Funding:

Alaska continually works with federal officials to secure the maximum federal funding possible for Medicaid services delivered to Alaska Natives through tribal facilities. In the early 1990’s the state worked with Region X in Seattle to convince the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services, formerly Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) www.cms.gov that the 100% federal matching should be made available to tribally owned and leased facilities.

Tribal Health Program staff continually work with other states that have American Indian populations in order to share information about federal activities on Indian health policy and coordinate efforts to advocate for favorable policy changes.
