Miller House-Level III - Behavioral Rehabilitation Services, Juneau

The program provides behavioral rehabilitation services and mental health treatment for youth who have had difficulty following rules and or laws in the community or at home with their family. Of the 15 beds, 12 are for youth in state's custody and 3 are for those in custody of their families.

Residents attend an on-site classroom, staffed by a Juneau School District teacher and aid. Most residents begin attending mainstream school prior to graduating from the program.

Treatment Approach

The Miller House residents take part in a Positive Peer Culture treatment philosophy, which teaches helping yourself through helping others. Additionally, residents focus on the stages of change and work to overcome issues and correct mistakes they have made in the past. The program focuses on harm reduction and the importance of having healthy relationships with others. The Miller House focuses on strengths and works with youth to use their strengths to make positive changes in their lives.
