WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. This public health program is designed to improve health outcomes and influence lifetime nutrition and health behaviors in targeted, at-risk populations. Nutrition education is the cornerstone of the WIC Program.

The State of Alaska Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program is preparing their Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2019 State Plan for submission to the funding agency, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  The State Plan is an important tool for State WIC agency management.  The State Plan fully describes the State agency’s objectives and procedures for all aspects of WIC program administration for FFY 2019.  Receipt of USDA grant funds is contingent upon the approval of a State Plan by the USDA.

A draft of the AK WIC FY 2019 State Plan will be available for review and comment at:  Room 508, Goldstein Building, 130 Seward Street, Juneau, AK 99801 from July 9 through July 23, 2018.  For more information, please contact Julie Walker at (907) 465-8629.  Comments must be submitted in writing by July 23, 2018 to the contact person listed above.​

Notice regarding new food submissions/product changes:

The Alaska WIC Program is preparing to implement eWIC in our state. We will review all WIC eligible food products that are distributed in Alaska for additions to our eWIC Approved Foods List (APL). We are not reviewing new or changed food products at this time. The 2016 Allowed Foods booklet will remain in effect until we transition to eWIC.
