Program Overview and Policies
The State of Alaska WIC Program works with the University of Alaska Anchorage to administer the Competent Professional Authority (CPA) Training Program.
The Alaska WIC CPA Training Program Policy and Procedure Manual provides all the information necessary for completing the CPA Training Program. Please click on the link below to access that manual.
In addition to the CPA training, there is an online Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (BFPC) Training. Please click on the link below to access that training guide.
Forms and Applications
Alaska WIC CPA Training:
To enroll in the Alaska WIC CPA Training Program, you must be employed in a WIC clinic. There are two forms to complete. You can print these by clicking below and email the completed forms to UAA_WIC@uaa.alaska.edu
The CPA Training Progress Record form can be used to track progress through the training program.
Once certified, Alaska WIC CPAs are required to complete twelve hours of continuing education each year. Record of these are maintained at the Local Agency. You may click below to access an optional form for tracking continuing education.
Alaska WIC BFPC Training:
To enroll in the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Training, please click on the link below to print the Learning Agreement. You may mail or fax the Learning Agreement to our office.
The BFPC Training Progress Record form can be used to track progress through the training program.
Breastfeeding Peer Counselors also need to participate in continuing education. Please click on the link below to access a form to track your continuing education after becoming a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor.
Each clinic has reusable training kits to check out to trainees. The training kits contain all the materials needed to complete the training. The forms below can help you manage your training kits.
Accessing Alaska WIC Training
To access preceptor or guest access for the Alaska WIC Training Programs, follow the instructions listed in the file “Accessing Alaska WIC Training”. Please note that this access is not for trainees. All trainees will need to submit applications or learning agreements to UAA and will need to set up their own training accounts.
