Alaskans Taking on Childhood Obesity (ATCO) Taskforce

Recommended Strategy

ATCO recommends developing a school-based grant program to enable districts to increase the physical activity levels of school children by improving quality physical education and physical activity during and outside of the school day. As a first step, a memorandum of agreement between the Departments of Health and Social Services and Education & Early Development was established to ensure a coordinated approach to preventing childhood obesity was developed. Together the departments are seeking funding to implement ATCO’s priority recommendation.
