Community Nutrition

The Alaska Obesity Prevention and Control Program improves access to and availability of affordable, healthy foods. Community Nutrition activities support and promote farm-to-where-you-are programs, traditional and customary foods, healthy school nutrition environments, school salad bars, and healthy food systems. OPCP provides funding and leadership to the Alaska Food Policy Council (AFPC) to provide information and recommendations on comprehensive policies that improve the Alaska food system. OPCP partners with the Division of Agriculture and the Division of Public Assistance to improve access to healthy, local foods for low income Alaskans through the Alaska Farmers’ Market Quest Program.
