Highlights:
Interested in participating in Alaska BRFSS questionnaire development?
The Alaska BRFSS program holds an annual stakeholders’ meeting each summer. This meeting introduces the next year’s core survey, and provides information on how to propose state-added questions.
If you wish to be added to the mailing list for this meeting, please contact BRFSS@alaska.gov.
Questionnaires
The Alaska BRFSS program seeks input on the upcoming BRFSS questionnaire at the end of each summer. The Standard BRFSS questionnaire is based on a core set of questions (the “core”), which is set by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and asked in all states, and a few state- added questions. The state- added questions are proposed by partners within Alaska, and are chosen by a committee of epidemiologists. Both the core and the state- added questions are year-specific, and may change each calendar year.
Standard BRFSS Questionnaires
In addition to the Standard BRFSS survey, the Alaska BRFSS program fields the Supplemental BRFSS, which seeks to obtain information about tobacco use amongst Alaskans. This survey is developed by the Alaska Tobacco Prevention and Control Program and uses similar surveying and data processing techniques as the standard BRFSS.
