The Informed Alaskans initiative is dedicated to providing unrestricted public access to health information on the web. Our first goal is to provide health information in both graphical and text formats. For example, the HTML Profiles should be compatible with assistive technology. The ability to download datafiles in Excel is another option. If you are still experiencing problems in accessing the information that you desire, there are people available to assist you in either using the available applications or providing the information desire in alternative formats.
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services is committed to providing content that is accessible and usable to those accessing our information and services online. We continually work to improve our practices in the production and maintenance of online content. If you discover that you have difficulty accessing or using our information or services, please let us know so we can better accommodate your needs. Your input will assist us in improving the browsing experience for all those visiting the department’s websites.
Included in the contacts are links to the departmental and state ADA coordinators.
A user guide is available that describes the different components used in the Alaskan InstantAtlas presentations. It is intentially brief and will be expanded to meet the recurring needs identified by users. For detailed information on InstantAtlas, the developer's "How to use" document listing all of the capabilities is also included. This latter document by GeoWise may include items not currently implemented in the Alaskan presentations.
In a hurry, GeoWise has some excellent introductions to InstantAtlas on YouTube. The full list of instructional video can be found on InstantAtlas's YouTube Channel. The following instructional videos are organized by template.
Subject Matter Experts:
If you do not find the health information that you desire or require additional clarification, subject matter experts are available for assistance. These are the individuals who developed the Informed Alaskans applications and the data stewards who manage the health information.
