Mission Statement

The Alaska State Public Health Laboratories (ASPHL) constitute an essential component of the state and national public health infrastructure and clearly operates with a different mission and purpose than do private sector laboratories.

The mission of the ASPHL is to provide analytical and technical laboratory information in support of state and national public health disease prevention programs and represents a first line of defense in the rapid recognition of the spread of communicable diseases.

Alaska State Public Health Laboratories

As of As of February 27, 2017, ASVL will begin to charge for respiratory pathogen panel (RPP) testing.  Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) PCR testing will remain free-of-charge for surveillance purposes.  We hope that you will continue to support the RVP tests as this is our best tool to provide surveillance of other respiratory viruses besides influenza.
