Tok Health Center Fact Sheet
Tok Public Health Center
The Tok Public Health Center provides services to the following communities:
The health center is staffed by a Public Health Nurse (PHN III) and an Office Assistant (OA II).
Tok Public Health Nursing provides select preventative clinic services as noted below, and also takes an active role in the health of the community at large. In collaboration with community stakeholders and partners, the public health nurse serves on the Emergency Planning Committee, partners with the City of Tok on health-related and emergency preparedness activities, and supports/provides health education in the locals schools and community.
Public Health Nursing also plays a major role in infectious disease surveillance and investigation. We partner with the State of Alaska Section of Epidemiology to perform local public health nursing case investigations of tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, foodborne illnesses, and other reportable diseases such as giardiasis.
In each clinic visit, Tok Public Health Nursing staff offer individual screenings and referrals for domestic/interpersonal violence, healthy lifestyle, and alcohol use risk.
