Adolescent Health Program Projects

Some of the Adolescent Health Program’s current projects (and plans for the future):

  • Promoting Health Among Teens (AKPHAT) – A Comprehensive Abstinence and Safer Sex Intervention implemented by professional teen peer educators in Anchorage, Bethel, and Homer.  Funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office of Adolescent Health.
  • Implementing the Fourth R Curriculum in schools across Alaska. The Fourth R teaches youth relationship skills and empowers adolescents to make healthier decisions about relationships, substance use, and sexual behavior. Funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Family and Youth Services Bureau.
  • Create and distribute the Stand Up, Speak Up Cards 
  • Create and disseminate the Birth Spacing Campaign
  • Oversee grant activities at Co-Occurring Disorder Institute in Wasilla
  • Coordinate adolescent health list serv.

  • Coordinate the Youth Alliance for a Healthier Alaska
  • Supporting Lead On! for Peace and Equality in Alaska Conference and mini-grants
  • Provide clinical educational activities for rural health care providers and community health aides
