Perinatal Health Program
Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Project
The Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Project partners with birthing facilities in order to promote consistent and evidence based infant safe sleep messages.
The Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Task Force worked with the Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Project to develop the Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Toolkit for Birthing Facilities.
This Toolkit contains all the information a birthing facility staff need to conduct a quality improvement project on infant safe sleeping, including:
- Instituting an infant safe sleep policy
- Providing training for nurses
- Educating parents
- Evaluating the birthing center’s efforts
Birthing facilities are asked to make a commitment to infant safe sleep by implementing use of the Toolkit for Birthing Facilities in their facility. To commit to this effort these facilities are encouraged to sign the Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Baby Stars Birthing Facilities Commitment Form and submit that form to the Alaska Infant Safe Sleep Project.
