Senior Residential Services
Senior and Disabilities Services receive funds
from the Alaska State Legislature to support Senior Residential Services (SRS).
The SRS grant provides essential funds to rural-remote providers to operate and
sustain supported residential living services to frail Elders. The intent of
the SRS program is to provide support in a residential setting so Elders can
remain in their communities of choice as they age; recognizing the importance
of community, family and culture for one’s well being while avoiding the need
to leave their families, culture and familiar surroundings for
institutionalization in larger urban settings. Residents receive individual
support in a residential setting which includes assistance with Activities of
Daily Living, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, in addition to social
and cultural activities.
