The goal of Alaska Medicare Information Office is to counsel, educate, and empower Alaskans to make informed Medicare and other health insurance-related decisions. In order to achieve this goal, we recruit and train volunteers to fill roles such as (but not limited to):

    • One-on-one Medicare counseling
    • Giving presentations to Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers
    • Answering phones and accurately recording caller information
    • Performing data entry
    • Assisting with mailings and other distribution projects

What are the Requirements?

Training is provided for all positions. All that is required is that you:

    • Must enjoy helping people
    • Are dependable, patient, and compassionate
    • Are able to understand and explain complex issues to others
    • Can protect client confidentiality
    • Can volunteer during normal business hours (M-F, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
    • Have easy access to the web, email, or phone
    • Agree to a criminal records and sex offender registry check (for some positions)
