Critical Incident Reporting Training-On-Demand and Quiz

Learn the requirements for Critical Incident Reporting to comply with Home and Community Based Waiver and Personal Care Services conditions of participation. This on-demand training is for agency program administrators and their designated training staff within agencies. This is a 35 minute video and quiz.   Allow one hour for completing both.

After you have viewed the video and completed the quiz, SDS will create a certificate of attendance in the first week of the following month and email it to the address that you entered on your quiz. SDS will only issue certificates of CIR training completion for program administrators or agency trainers.


Mandatory Reporting for Vulnerable Adult Protective Services Training-On-Demand Quiz

This training and quiz will help you learn more about mandatory reporting in Alaska: making reports of harm for vulnerable adults. Allow 45 minutes to one hour to view 2 short videos and answer the quiz questions.

Getting Your Technology Ready for Harmony

 
A non-technical training to help you learn how to prepare yourself and your computer to use the Harmony Data System. Topics include resources to check your computer’s readiness, how to download the correct browser, how to use a browser to find a website when you have the exact web address, tips, common troubleshooting answers, resources and terms and definitions. Good for a new user or as a refresher. This is a 14 minute video.

How to Get and Use Direct Secure Messaging for Emails Containing Protected Health Information (PHI)    

All Senior & Disabilities Services Providers in Alaska must use the Direct Secure Messaging system when sending or receiving email or an attachment that contains PHI. Learn the basics – PHI, how to get and use direct secure messaging.

Home and Community Based Settings Requirements and Quiz

Required training for providers applying for certification for Supported Employment, Residential Habilitation Group Home, Family Home Habilitation, Supported Living, Residential Supported Living, Adult Day Services, and/or Day Habilitation; when the provider owns, operates, contracts or controls the setting (physical location) where the service is provided. Allow one hour to complete the online training and quiz.

Intro to Home & Community Based Long Term Services and Supports Certification

Do you want to become a provider of Alaska Medicaid Home and Community Based Long Term Services and Supports? Find out more about the responsibilities and requirements to be certified as a provider. For new provider applicants and those who have not yet applied for certification. Topics may include: Certification; Enrollment, Home and Community Based Waiver Services overview, Personal Care Services overview, related regulations, and requirements. This training has several units starting with the basics. Each unit will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Personal Care Services (PCS) Agency Administrator/Applicant Training

REQUIRED of prospective administrators to apply for initial certification as a PCS Agency. This training is also required for PCS administrators who are new to an established agency. Topics may include: Service principles; Person Centered Service; Certification; Agency Based PCA vs. Consumer Directed PCA services; Application, Assessment & Renewal; Non-covered Services; Responsibilities as a provider; PCA in combination with HCB Waivers. Offered as a live facilitated webinar or in a classroom.


Personal Care Services Administrator Training, Train the Trainer: Community First Choice (CFC) Skill Building Training Webinar

Community First Choice is an option for qualified Alaska Medicaid recipients. Currently certified PCS Administrators, join SDS training staff to learn about CFC services: Skill building, supervision and cueing, and helping recipients learn more about how to manage their own CFC/PCA worker.
CFC will include the required training for staff who are helping individuals who want to learn independence skills. Training includes how to train staff at your agency and resources. This is a live facilitated webinar consisting of 2 sessions.


Community First Choice (CFC) - Personal Care Services (PCS) Services, Processes and Forms, for Care Coordinators Webinar

PCS Administrators welcome too. Join SDS Training staff for updated information about: CFC-PCS regulations and service definitions, how CFC-PCS services work, and how they can help your client; Care Coordinator processes and forms - for clients who have CFC and a waiver, or just CFC. This is a 2 session live facilitated webinar series. 


Habilitation Services and Goals Webinar

For providers of habilitation services. Learn about habilitation services, their definitions and purpose. We will discuss how to develop objectives to help support goals. Learn more about roles, responsibilities, and documentation. This class is a live facilitated webinar.


Basic Concepts of Care Coordination, Presented by the Alaska Training Cooperative

Required prior to taking Care Coordination Core Units offered by SDS for new care coordinator applicants not yet certified. Topics include: Ethics, How to Serve Someone with a Disability, Advocacy, and Planning Services. Available throughout the year as a live facilitated webinar and face to face class. $35.00 tuition fee.   


Full Lives Conference for Direct Service Professionals and Care Coordinators   

Held at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, in April of every year, this three day conference is offered in partnership with The Alaska Training Cooperative. Full Lives draws a wide range of attendees that provide services in developmental disabilities, behavioral health, traumatic brain injuries, substance related disorders, and senior services. Attendees include case managers, personal care assistance, care coordinators, community advocates, supervisors, administrators, self-advocates, caregivers, and families receiving services. The Full Lives Conference encourages interaction, problem solving, and sharing among all participants. There is a registration fee. Care Coordinators may submit a verified attendance record through SDS for continuing education hours. Care Coordinators currently certified for 24 months or more may choose the conference and an assignment from SDS Training as required training for recertification.

Required training for currently certified care coordinators who are applying for renewal of certification.

CCCORE-LAB – 5 session live facilitated webinar workshop series – Create a Sample Support Plan

This is a 5 session workshop in which you will create a case study and a complete sample support plan. You will learn the requirements for each section of the support plans. This will be an interactive class with peer group review of your work. Need working knowledge of Microsoft Word, using tracked changes and comments.

SDS Harmony Data System Training Descriptions

Introduction to the Harmony Data System
for All Certified/Enrolled Personal Care Services Administrators and Care Coordinators

Required training for certified/enrolled PCS Administrators and administrative staff, and Care Coordinators only. Complete this training to learn the basics of the Harmony Data System website. This live facilitated webinar will qualify you to apply to SDS for access to Harmony as a user and/or your agency’s Harmony Access Coordinator. Training is available only to certified and enrolled providers with an Alaska Medicaid billing number.

Harmony Training for Personal Care Services Administrative Staff

Step by step training for currently certified/enrolled agency administrative staff. Learn how to complete PCS (only) applications, reapplications and changes of status in the Harmony Data System.   

Harmony Training for Care Coordinators

Harmony Data System topics for currently certified/enrolled Care Coordinators. Training will be offered in live facilitated webinars, recordings and in-person classroom training.
