Fraud alert genetic testing graphic.SCAM ALERT!!

Good news on the fraud-busting front: Today, the federal government charged 35 people behind the Medicare fraud scheme that targeted seniors through a genetic testing scam. Victims would sign up for the genetic test and provide their Medicare number which resulted, in some cases, in thousands of dollars of fraudulent claims. The DHSS Medicare Information Office (MIO) has been warning Alaskans about the scam and a few scam calls have been reported, but the MIO is not aware of any Alaskans who were victims of the scam. Find out the details about the scam here.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) mailed out new Medicare cards to Alaska beneficiaries April-June 2018. The new cards don’t show Social Security numbers to help prevent identity theft.
