About OCS: Mission and Goals
The Office of Children’s Services works in partnership with families and communities to support the well-being of Alaska’s children and youth. Services will enhance families’ capacities to give their children a healthy start, to provide them with safe and permanent homes, to maintain cultural connections and to help them realize their potential.
The Office of Children's Services builds on the strengths of the past, while exploring new opportunities and goals for the future. Since its reorganization on July 1, 2003, the Office of Children’s Services continues to work to bring together the three programs for supporting children, youth and families that are at its core:
- Infant Learning Program;
- Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Planning; and
- Child Protection and Permanency;
Continuing Goals for the Coming Year
Employing the most effective strategies available, the Office of Children’s Services strives to fulfill its mission to protect and serve Alaska’s children and families.
