Background Checks for Child Care Providers
Available on the Health Care Services webpage, are details on the Background Check Interim Application Process (PDF) and the Background Check Interim Application (PDF). This temporary process will remain in effect until NABCS is restored or until further notice is released by the Division of Health Care Services (HCS).
At this time, there are no waivers or suspensions in place that would allow any other processes to be conducted in lieu of the requirements of 7 AAC 10.900 - 7 AAC 10.990, due in part to the additional registry checks that are conducted by HCS but that are not available to vendors. Full compliance with background check regulations continues to be required to remain in compliance with Department of Health and Social Services certification and licensing regulations.
Please contact Mikal White, Background Check Section Manager, at mikal.white@alaska.gov or 907-269-3938 if you have any questions. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
