Move More

Alaska’s children need to get out and play, 60 minutes every day, for the best health possible. Learn about the department’s Play Every Day campaign that is getting Alaska families moving and choosing healthy drinks like water and low-fat milk.

Eat Well

There are many ways to fill your plate with healthy fruits and vegetables in Alaska — no matter the season.

All Alaskans should have access to fresh, healthy, local foods. Many farmers’ markets accept Quest cards (SNAP) and WIC and Senior coupons. Visit the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Assistance Programs webpage for more information.

The Alaska Obesity Prevention and Control Program worked with the Food Bank of Alaska and Chef Rob Kinneen to develop cooking videos using foods that can be purchased at farmers’ markets with Quest cards. These videos feature delicious, low-cost recipes.
