How this report is organized
Introduction
The introduction provides an overview of Alaska, information on population and demographics and an explanation of how vital statistics are collected and recorded.
Births
This chapter provides information about births to Alaskans from 2000 through 2009. The chapter’s tables show number of births and birth rates by race and age group, medical services utilization (prenatal care and c-section percentages), and infant health characteristics (low birth weight and preterm percentages) of Alaskan births. This chapter also includes maps showing how selected natality indicators vary across Alaska’s census areas and boroughs.
Fetal, Infant, and Child Deaths
This chapter provides information about fetal, infant, and child deaths of Alaskan residents from 2000 through 2009. The chapter’s tables show fetal mortality rates, infant mortality rates by race and age (neonatal or postneonatal), and child mortality rates. This chapter also includes maps showing how selected mortality indicators vary across Alaska’s census areas and boroughs.
Deaths
This chapter provides information about deaths of Alaskan residents from 2000 through 2009. The chapter’s tables show number of deaths and rates by race and/or cause. This chapter also includes maps showing how selected mortality indicators vary across Alaska’s census areas and boroughs.
Adoptions
This chapter provides information about adoptions within Alaska from 2000 through 2009. The chapter’s tables show number of adoptions by race, adoption rates, and number of adoptions by type.
Marriages and Divorces
This chapter provides information about marriages and divorces within Alaska from 2000 through 2009. The chapter’s tables show marriage and divorce rates by sex, number of marriages by residency, number of marriages and divorces by age group, and number of divorces by type.
