Universal Developmental Screening Advisory Committee (UDSAC)

Purpose

The purpose of the Universal Developmental Screening Advisory Committee is to bring key stakeholders together to ensure that all children and their caregivers have access to developmental screening in Alaska. The Advisory Committee will accomplish this through:

  1. Streamlining efforts to maximize efficiency
  2. Coordinating data sharing
  3. Ensuring access to training on developmental screening and screening tools for all voluntary or mandated screeners, including early childhood education, home visitors and health care providers
  4. Providing stakeholder input on the statewide ASQ Online system
  5. Increasing family-focused education on developmental screening

This advisory committee was established by the Section of Women’s, Children’s & Family Health in September of 2020, in response to the recommendations made in the report Developmental Screening in Alaska. The report was released in March of 2020 by Help Me Grow Alaska and the All Alaska Pediatric Partnership and written by Prentice Consulting.

Currently there are four active UDSAC workgroups that are meeting regularly:

  1. Increasing family-focused education and developmental screening
  2. Ensuring access to training on developmental screening and screening tools
  3. Providing stakeholder input on the statewide ASQ Online system
  4. Coordinating data sharing
