Perinatal Health Program
About the program
The perinatal health program is an organized public health effort providing leadership to safeguard the health of Alaskan mothers and babies and promote the best health possible for them. We do this work by:
- partnering with health care providers, facilities, and systems
- using evidence-based information to learn about the extent and causes of health problems
- promoting professional standards and proven practices to prevent or solve perinatal health problems
- ensuring access to quality perinatal health care
- administering grants and programs to improve maternal and newborn outcomes
- leading statewide initiatives to improve health outcomes
- promoting and modeling healthy behaviors in the work place
