SESA Committee

Members of the Council act as the governing board for the Special Education Services Agency.
(est. 1986).  AS § 14.30.650 Special Education Service Agency

SESA supports the effective education of students with low-incidence disabilities throughout Alaska, but especially in remote and rural areas where their staff need training in specialized areas. SESA helps meet the IDEA requirement that all students with disabilities are guaranteed a free and appropriate public education.

SESA works with the Governor's Council on the Alaska Autism Resource Center (AARC). The AARC serves the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders, their families, caregivers, and service providers throughout the state of Alaska by providing information, referral, training, and consultation via on-site and distance delivery.
